Our Story

Panther Composite was founded in 2019 as a small mountain bike team serving student-athletes from Pines Charter High School. What started as a handful of riders with a shared passion for mountain biking has grown into one of Broward County's premier NICA composite teams.

As the program continued to expand, we began welcoming student-athletes from schools throughout Broward County. It became clear that our mission had outgrown our original identity.

In 2026, we officially rebranded as Panther Composite to better represent the diverse communities we serve. The new name reflects our commitment to providing opportunities for all middle and high school students, regardless of which school they attend. By removing the perception that the team was limited to a single school, we created a more inclusive program where young athletes from across the county can train, compete, and grow together.

Today, Panther Composite is more than a mountain bike team. We are a community dedicated to developing confident, resilient young leaders through cycling. Our athletes learn the value of teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship, trail stewardship, and giving back to the community while building lifelong friendships and a passion for the outdoors.

As we enter the 2027 season, Panther Composite continues to grow, with our largest roster to date and an expanding commitment to increasing opportunities for female riders through NICA's GRiT (Girls Riding Together) initiative. We remain focused on one mission: creating a welcoming environment where every student-athlete has the opportunity to discover the lifelong benefits of mountain biking.
