Our First Mass Start Race of the Season!
Feb 21-22 Our second race takes us to one of Florida’s most iconic mountain bike destinations—The Vortex at Santos in Ocala—for our first mass start race of the season!
The Vortex area is built on an old limestone quarry and offers a truly unique riding experience. With rugged rock features, fast descents, technical climbs, and flowy singletrack, this course is designed to challenge and excite riders of all levels. It’s a perfect setting for the high-energy format of a mass start—expect bar-to-bar action right out of the gate!
Riders will launch from a wide open start before entering a thrilling mix of twisty, technical, and fast terrain. The course includes punchy elevation changes, rocky sections, and some of the best trail flow in the state. The Vortex doesn’t just test your fitness—it rewards your skill and determination with a course that’s as fun as it is demanding.
This race sets the tone for the rest of the season. With the intensity of a mass start and the legendary status of the Santos trail system, Race #2 is sure to be unforgettable.
Let’s bring the heat to Ocala—see you at the Vortex!
Mar 14-15 A hill in South Florida? It’s true!
Dyer Park in Palm Beach County features a unique riding experience with two main trail systems: the Hill Trails and the Perimeter Trail.
Dyer Hill Trail
Rising 55 feet above the surrounding terrain, Dyer Hill offers approximately 2.5 miles of winding singletrack. The trail climbs and descends repeatedly as it wraps around the hill, offering riders flowy, banked turns built from shell rock generously donated by Palm Beach County.
The trail is narrow singletrack, about 1 to 2 feet wide, made up of crushed rock. Though some small trees provide intermittent shade, most of the trail is fully exposed—bring sunscreen and water, especially in the heat. After heavy rain, erosion may occur, so check trail conditions before riding.
Dyer Perimeter Trail
Perfect for all skill levels, the Perimeter Trail features smoother crushed rock surfaces and miles of twisty singletrack through the woods. It's more shaded than Dyer Hill, making it a great choice for newer riders or those looking for a more relaxed ride.
Still, Florida’s sun and humidity are no joke—hydration is key no matter which trail you ride.
Mar 28-29 Our fourth race of the season takes us to Central Florida and the legendary trails of Loyce E. Harpe Park, better known as Carter Road. This venue is a favorite among Florida mountain bikers—and once you ride it, you’ll see why.
Built on the rugged terrain of a former phosphate mine, Carter Road offers a truly unique ride experience with natural elevation changes, scenic views, and a trail network that caters to all skill levels—from beginners to seasoned racers.
The race course starts on a wide dirt road, giving riders a fast and open launch before transitioning into a grass run—but don’t burn all your energy just yet! From there, the trail dives into flowy singletrack that winds around beautiful lakes, climbs and descends rolling ridges, and finishes with a tight, twisty section that will test your handling skills right up to the finish line.
This is a fun yet challenging course that showcases the best of Florida mountain biking. Make the most of your weekend and explore more of this destination-worthy trail system—you won't want to leave!
Apr 11-12 Our final race of the season brings us to Florida’s capital—Tallahassee—and into the heart of Leon County, home to some of our league’s biggest supporters. We'll be spending the weekend at the beautiful J.R. Alford Greenway, an ideal venue to wrap up an unforgettable season.
With over 17 miles of multi-use trails, the Greenway is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts—cyclists, runners, hikers, horseback riders, nature lovers, and dog walkers alike. The open spaces, scenic views, and wooded trails surrounding natural lakes make this a true gem and a perfect setting for a FL NICA event.
But let’s talk racing—because that’s what we’re here for!
This course is designed to challenge and excite our student-athletes. Riders will begin in a wide, grassy field before heading into the first section of singletrack. The trail quickly becomes twisty, flowy, and fast, putting smiles on faces right out of the gate.
From there, riders will test their climbing legs on doubletrack leading to the Longleaf Trail—a hard-packed red clay trail known for its smooth flow, rolling terrain, and scenic pine forest surroundings. With 326 feet of elevation gain per lap, this race offers a true cross-country mountain biking experience that’s both demanding and deeply rewarding.
This is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of hard work, growth, and community. Let’s finish strong!
