Coach Walter brings a lifelong passion for youth development and a deep love for the outdoors to the cycling community. Having lived in diverse environments from Chile to California and New Jersey, he and his family eventually settled in Florida in 2004. An avid outdoor enthusiast, his interests span camping, windsurfing, snow skiing, wakeboarding, scuba diving, and mountain biking. Specifically, his background in advanced technical diving—exploring deep wrecks and caverns—has continually taught him the value of discipline, preparation, and staying grounded in challenging environments.
He has found great purpose in supporting and mentoring young people through extensive volunteer work. For a decade, he served as a Den Leader and Assistant Scoutmaster for his son's Scout Troop, enjoying the rewarding process of fostering learning and growth. For over 16 years, he has also been a youth leader and mentor at his home church, dedicating his time to celebrating the everyday successes of the youth he guides. Playing guitar and singing is a passion that he also likes to share with the world. Coach Walter leads a weekly youth guitar group, recognizing the unique power of music to build creativity, teamwork, and confidence.
In 2019, Coach Walter reignited his own passion for mountain biking, returning to roots first planted as a BMX rider. Training weekly alongside his son, their shared dedication led them to join the Pembroke Pines Charter Mountain Biking Team in 2020. By 2023, he was honored to step into the role of Head Coach for both the Pembroke Pines Charter Mountain Biking Team and the NICA Pines Composite Team. In 2025, he was thrilled to help guide the exciting transition as these two groups officially combined to form the Panther Composite MTB Team. Along the way, he has been grateful for the opportunity to work alongside professional coaches, continually learning how best to help young athletes reach their full potential.
Today, you will often find him training weekly on the road, on the track, and on the trails, simply enjoying the ride as a dedicated multi-discipline cyclist.
Coach Walter's coaching philosophy is rooted in holistic youth development. He believes that mountain biking is a wonderful tool to foster not only physical skills but also vital life lessons. His primary mission is to create a fun, safe, and supportive space where every rider can discover their potential, build resilience, and develop strong character. Ultimately, he hopes to help cultivate a lifelong love of nature and a passion for personal growth, always emphasizing effort and the simple joy of shared experiences on the trails.
